Humans have inhabited this area since before the last ice age, and with the help of ‘The Mo’, Sheringham’s museum, we explore what has happened to the area and the changes it has experienced. From Fishermen’s lives to Victorian shops to WW1 bombs we delve into another world, sitting at old school desks, feeling part of an old mammoth’s skeleton and trying on old lifejackets. There is also a focus on Sheringham today, with a room devoted to Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm, with telescopes to take a closer look and a challenge for the children to generate enough energy to power a TV by hand. Once out of the museum gift shop, we take a stroll around the town, where many of the old Victorian buildings still exist, the main highlights being the old steam railway station and of course a visit to our favourite ice cream shop!
We have an ‘Out of the classroom’ outlook on studying. We have always used local locations and environments to bring student into direct contact with geographical or environmental issues in a fun way, giving opportunities or discovery.
